TalkingNow is an online language academy that connects students and teachers globally through one-to-one personalized English, Spanish, French, and German language classes. Our courses include Speech/Conversation, TOEFL/IELTS, Business/Workplace communication.

1. Conversation Courses

TalkingNow uses the American ESL Library graded textbooks and the American school K-6 grade textbooks, which are divided into 10 levels according to grammar, vocabulary and pragmatic functions. Involving more than 2000 scenes and topics, the content range from simple to deep, and the course covers all aspects of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

One-to-One conversation courses are designed for English learners from high beginner to advanced levels. Classes focus on improving conversation ability with an emphasis on proper use of English grammar, vocabulary development, pronunciation improvement and accent reduction. Learners will be classified into four levels as beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Proficient determined through the evaluation from the trial class. Separately, the course materials and contents will be customized for individuals. 

  • Schedule: Conversation Courses are given at least one hour per week,  for 1 hour class per week or 30 mins class twice per week.
  • Textbook: Course materials will be selected based on your level of English proficiency and your interests.
  • Tuition: Tuition for Conversation Courses is $30 per hour or $15 for half an hour, paid monthly.

2. TOEFL & ITELS Courses

TOEFL preparation prepares students for the TOEFL examination. These courses are designed for English learners at the advanced level that are preparing for the TOEFL-iBT. TalkingNow teaches TOEFL in private one-to-one lessons, to provide a personalized approach to instruction that meets the student’s specific needs. In addition to class time, you should plan on spending significant time outside of class completing practice tests.

The objectives for the course are to:

  • discuss each of the test sections and prepare for each section;
  • focus on the listening, reading, and speaking components of the examination by completing timed speaking exercises;
  • read sample questions and answers, and discuss raters’ expectations for the examination;
  • complete practice tests and discuss results; and
  • use exercises from multiple texts to enhance skills required for the examination.

3. Business & Workplace Communication Courses

The goal of Business/Workplace Communication courses is to help professionals from a variety of fields feel more confident using English in their professional lives. Special attention is given to participating in meetings, including asking and answering questions, agreeing and disagreeing, and delivering presentations. Students will learn useful expressions and gain the skills they need to have more fulfilling interactions with their colleagues.

The objectives for the course are to:

  • Asking for clarification, making suggestions, and interjecting appropriately during a meeting
  • Agreeing and disagreeing in the course of a conversation
  • Designing and delivering presentations with your audience in mind
  • Preparing for and responding to questions about your presentation
  • Clarifying information that you do not understand during a presentation or meeting
